When you’re a kid, the calendar flipping over to September is like seeing a massive UFO descend over your city and hover there, ominously. Nothing good will come of this, you’d tell yourself as you gathered up what seemed like far too many supplies.
When you’re an adult, especially one with school-aged kids, making it to September is like waking up on Christmas morning. The air is fresher. The coffee tastes better. Colors seem brighter. Endless possibilities await. And some of those possibilities should include going out to see good live music.
As it is every year, the Music is Art Festival is the highlight of the September music calendar. Free and full of local artists, the festival is a can’t-miss event for any music fan. Other highlights include the indie rock band Alvvays at Artpark (Sept. 1), hip-hop legends Digable Planets at Town Ballroom (Sept. 19), and alternative legends Everclear at Town Ballroom (Sept. 12).
