Braintree police told WFXT that they were called to the mall around 11:45 a.m. for a report that a vehicle had driven inside the building. When officers arrived, they found a white Lincoln MKX stopped in a hallway on the second floor.

The driver was inside the vehicle when police arrived, and officers told WFXT that she had stopped the SUV on her own.

A video shared with WFXT shows the car stopped on the carpet as some people approach the driver’s window and other shoppers cluster in groups, apparently confused.

In a news release, the Braintree Police Department said the SUV entered the mall from the garage by going over a pedestrian bridge. Officers said the vehicle was able to get through because a recent accident had forced the removal of a safety bollard that had been in front of the mall’s entrance. In the news release, officers said the driver traveled approximately 60 yards down the main corridor of the mall’s second level before stopping.

There was minor damage to the vehicle and a planter was knocked over, police said. There were no reported injuries.

Police told WFXT that they have requested the driver’s license be immediately suspended. The driver was evaluated at the scene before being taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
