By Tom Stanton Aug 18, 2022 | 2:24 PM

The Lancaster County Sheriff says a 52 year old Firth man was arrested around 11:30 Wednesday night after firing several rounds at a stop sign near 54th and Stagecoach Road.   Terry Wagner says two men were sitting in a truck near the intersection at the time. “They heard gunshots in the area and they heard 12-15 bullets whiz by.”

Wagner says the men drove towards the area where the bullets were fired and gave a description of the shooter and his vehicle.  Deputies were able to use that information to track down the man.  Wagner says he had a .22 caliber rifle and an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.  They also found shell casings in the area.

“You see stop signs and other traffic signs shot up out in the the county.  It’s kind of gratifying to finally catch somebody doing that.,” Wagner says.  He says one of the stop signs at that intersection had 12 bullet holes in it.

The man was cited and released for DWI, possession of an open alcohol container, criminal mischief and other charges.
