Plans for new hangar considered

Carbon County Planning Commission reviewed several plans during its monthly meeting on Tuesday, including one for a new hangar at a Mahoning Township airport.

SRE Carbon County Airport Authority is proposing a new 3,600-square-foot hangar building and 2,000-square-foot snow removal equipment building at the Jake Arner Memorial Airport, located off Mahoning Drive.

County Planner Ivan O. Meixell Jr. outlined his findings, saying there were several areas of noncompliance with the Mahoning Township Land Development Ordinances that need to be addressed before final approval could be recommended.

Issues include minor things such as signatures, a misspelling on a plan sheet, and the erosion and sediment pollution control plan needing to be reviewed and approved by the Carbon County Conservation District.

The planning commission then recommended conditional plan approval.

Other plans reviewed

The planning commission also made recommendations on the following plans.

• Mildred A. Felten received conditional plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 1027 Hemlock Drive, Mahoning Township. The plans call for subdividing 7.8159 acres into two lots.

• Steven and Karla L. Wenig received conditional plan approval for a proposed lot line revision at 800 Towamensing Road, Pocono Beltzville Lake Estates, White Oak Run Section, Towamensing Township. The plans call for combining two lots into one.

• Jeffrey A. and Lisa A. Wagner received conditional plan approval for a proposed lot line revision at 58 Masters Trail, Towamensing Trails, Section 3, Penn Forest Township. The plans call for combining two lots into one.

The reviews and commission’s recommendations now go to the respective municipalities for inclusion in final approval.
