The Uncommon

The Uncommon Opens in Chandler

The Uncommon, an eatery and bar arcade, has opened in Downtown Chandler. This unique concept marries nostalgia via arcade games with a menu of creative cocktails and food.

The Uncommon Chandler is designed to bring out the kiddo in all of us; think a Zoltar machine, shuffleboard, Skee-Ball, pinball, ping pong tables, a photo booth, bubble hockey and endless video games. Retro toys and trinkets also fill the quirky space.

“The amount of detail that has been packed into The Uncommon has been overwhelmingly received with smiles and laughter brought on by the memories of childhood,” says Niels Kreipke, The Uncommon owner, in a press release. “The space is unrivaled in the Valley and is truly special.”

The Uncommon Chandler

The menu at The Uncommon Chandler is as playful as its atmosphere, in part thanks to each dish’s pop culture-inspired name. The Sloan Peterson (Ferris Bueller’s girlfriend) is a smoked salmon BLT, made with avocado and garlic aioli on sourdough bread; The Grilled Chicken Thing is a play on chicken wings but made with chicken thighs and served with Carolina mustard BBQ sauce and Reyes blue cheese dressing; The Inigo Montoya (of The Princess Bride fame) is a unique burger that’s served on a freshly made English Muffin with white American cheese, bacon, pickles, arugula, red onion and garlic aioli; and Porky’s Revenge, a pounded pork cutlet, breaded and fried, topped with a poached egg and served with Japanese apple crisp curry and forbidden rice, are just a few of the unique dishes.

As for cocktails, imbibers can sip Poppin Cherry Limeade, made with Smirnoff cherry vodka, lime juice, Sprite, grenadine and a cherry; the 1.21 Gigawatts, made with Basil Hayden whiskey, simple syrup and orange bitters; the “We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat” is a cocktail for two that comes in a blue ceramic fish and is served with candy fish and Nerds in the bottom.

On the weekends, The Uncommon Chandler hosts live music while DJs up the energy during the week. The bar arcade is 21 and over after 10 p.m.; it is open Wednesday through Saturday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday, 4 to 10 p.m.
