A 43-year-old Troy man whose abduction of his infant daughter from a Richmond Township home triggered an Amber Alert was sentenced Wednesday to over six to 20 years.

Nicholas Frost received 6 ½ years for first-degree home invasion and unlawful imprisonment and lesser terms for unlawful driving away of a vehicle and child abandonment by Macomb County Circuit Judge Edward Servitto, according to court records.

Frost on July 29, 2021, entered the mother’s home through a crawl space, took the child and fled in her vehicle, according to Michigan State Police. The child was found by employees at a Madison Heights business as she sat in a car seat on a sidewalk following an Amber Alert, police said. Police took the baby into custody.

Police said Frost lost his parental rights to the child.

He pleaded guilty to the charges last April on the condition he enter Mental Health Court. But he was denied participation in the specialized court and in June withdrew his plea.

However, on Wednesday he reinstated the plea and asked for immediate sentencing.

Held in lieu of a $250,000 bond, he received 377 days of credit against the sentence.
