A Pontiac woman accused of stabbing four people at a house party — including a teenager — is scheduled to return to 50th District Court on Sept. 16 for a preliminary exam.

At the exam, Judge Cynthia Walker will hear evidence and decide if probable cause exists to advance the case against Candis Wright-McDonald, 39,  to Oakland County Circuit Court.

Wright-McDonald, a mother of nine, is charged with four counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder for a June 25 incident on Newman Lane in Pontiac. Witnesses and victims reportedly told Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies that there had been a house party and the neighbor, subsequently identified as Wright-McDonald, came over and began stabbing people. Deputies canvassed the area but were unable to find her, though on Aug. 2 Wright-McDonald was located at a gas station at Orchard Lake and Old Telegraph roads and taken into custody.

According to the sheriff’s office, one victim was stabbed twice in the chest, another was stabbed in the chest and upper back, a third victim was stabbed in the stomach and the fourth victim was stabbed in the chest. They were all transported to an area hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Three of the victims are Pontiac residents — the youngest 15 years old — and the fourth is from Detroit, the sheriff’s office said.
