Greg Upchurch held a soft opening for the Greg’s Rocking Goat Coffee shop on August 14. The soft opening was invite only, but went well for the business and guests. The soft opening provided the eatery a controlled environment for the first day and allowed guests an inside look before the grand opening.

The new coffee shop is owned by Greg Upchurch, a 1990 Kingston graduate. Even though he was born in Bayou Cane, LA., his family moved to Marshall County when he was a child. The Kingston alumni had a lucrative music career after leaving thehallsofKingstonHigh School. Upchurch was the drummerforPuddleofMudd, and is the current drummer for Three Doors Down.

Upchurch said he is ecstatic for the opportunity to have Greg’s Rockin’ Goat Coffee in his hometown. His coffee shop is almost like a walk through the history of music. His decor is reminiscent of his career, since he used memorabilia from his rock career in it.

The coffee sold at Greg’s Rockin’ Goat Coffee is different than most have seen in the Kingston area. This is because the coffee is all organic and roasted in house. The store won’t have dozens of flavors, but their focus is on the farm fresh coffee they have.

Upchurch said opening a coffee shop in Kingston was a no-brainer. Most of his family and friends are in the area, so it was logical to put his coffee house at 111 Highway 70 in Kingston. Upchurch said he wants to spread positivity to the younger generation in the area.

“Young people need to know you can absolutely do anything with your life,” Upchurch said.

He said he is proud of whathehasdoneinMarshall County and looks to continue his support for everyone.
