Get your Barbecue On

Try one of these great spots in Park City.

When thinking of the barbecue capitals of the country, there are the usual contenders: Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, and the Carolinas. While Utah doesn’t have the same smokehouse reputation, you’d be surprised to find there are several spectacular smokey gems sprinkled in Park City and beyond. Check out our lineup below for the next time you’re craving a taste of the South.

Wild Ember

Typically found at The Snow Park Residences at the St. Regis, Wild Ember is a pop-up barbecue joint serving comforting smokehouse favorites with unexpected, high-end touches and ingredients. Think classic Southern flavors anchored by locally sourced, sustainably raised meats. The menu offers tasty starters and sides like passion fruit baked beans, meats by the portion (pound, rack, or whole depending on the meat), and delectable sauces. The menu is available for curbside pickup only – perfect for grabbing before a hike. In their own words: where there’s smoke, there’s Wild Ember.

Boneyard Saloon

While not only a barbecue joint, Boneyard Saloon should be on your radar for the spare ribs dripping with Moppin’ sauce. Go for the signature cocktails and Amish friendship pretzels and stay for this all-star rib dish. Served with house-made sauce, cornbread and coleslaw, this fall-off-the-bone meal will curb all your barbecue cravings.

Lush‘s BBQ

With a tagline like “Tennessee. Always.”, you can’t go wrong paying a visit to Lush’s. Their menu is fully stacked with sandwiches, chili dogs, meat plates and sides. The pulled pork sandwich, fried chicken plate, mustard coleslaw and gnocchi potato salad (find the recipe in our summer magazine) are standout favorites.

Feeding friends or family? Order a family meal that comes with your meat of choice (or combo), sandwich buns, bbq sauce, slaw and beans. There are even options for non-barbecue fans and pickier kids. If you’re on your way to the Uintas, Lush’s has a food truck located in the heart of Kamas.

Goochy Goo BBQ

Last, but certainly not least, is “smoked low and slow” Goochy Goo, connected to the Chevron in Midway. The name comes from a running joke in the family of owners Steve and Heatherly Stanley. Their fare is delicious, saucy and just a bit sloppy – just how barbecue was always intended to be. Entrees include the Goochy Sundae (mac and cheese stacked with saucy meat and toppings) and the Hot Mess (the loaded baked potato of your dreams).

So…BBQ anyone?
