Bangor Teacher Selected As One Of The Top Educators In US & Canada
One of Bangor's own educators is being honored on a National level for her work in education.
According to Raymond Phinney of the Bangor School Department, Mrs. Kristy Dube from the Downeast School in Bangor has been chosen by Norwegian Cruiseline as a 'Giving Joy Top 100 Educator'. Dube works as a Math Coach/Interventionist at the school. She is being recognized specifically for her work providing students with schoolwide educational resources to keep them building up a strong educational foundation through the pandemic.
Phinney says Superintendent James Tager and members of the Bangor School Department offer their congratulations to Dube for going above and beyond.
"It is an honor to work with teachers like Mrs. Dube, who give endless opportunities to the students of our school department,” said Superintendent James Tager."
Phinney says Norwegian Cruise Lines launched its "Giving Joy" Contest this past May, during Teacher Appreciation Week.
"Through the pandemic, Mrs. Dube offered summer enrichment opportunities for students in Kindergarten through Grade Three to enhance their understanding of science and math.
The Top 100 educators from across the United States and Canada won a free cruise aboard their newest record-breaking ship Norwegian Prima.
Mrs. Dube will attend a special ceremony where Norwegian will announce the three Grand Prize winners who will receive $25,000, $15,000, and $10,000, respectively, for their school."
Mrs. Dube's cruise is scheduled to depart from Galveston, Texas this October.
