JAMESTOWN, N.D. (UJ) – The University of Jamestown Booster Club teamed up with the Jimmie Football team to host their first Back-to-School Night at the Jamestown Speedway on August 13, 2022.

At the evening’s race, which was sponsored by the Jimmie Booster Club, Jimmie Football athletes gave out backpacks full of school supplies to kids 12 and under.

“I can’t thank the Jamestown Speedway enough for allowing us this chance to connect with the community,” said Tara Kapp, Director of the Booster Club. “The night was an incredible and super fun experience. Hats off to Coach Brian Mistro and his players for their dedication and hard work. I can’t say enough about how proud we are of those young men.”

In total, 25 backpacks filled with folders, notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, pencil bags, and glue were handed out, equaling a near $500 investment from the Jimmie football team.

“This was the Jimmie Booster Club’s first time sponsoring a race, and Back-to-School Night was definitely something important to us,” explained Kapp. “Our partnership with the Jimmie football team made the night an even bigger success. Our goal is to be there every year to continue to help area kids and parents get back into the groove for school, while connecting the University of Jamestown and the Jimmie Booster Club with area racers and race fans.”

In addition to giving away backpacks, the Jimmies sold 50/50 raffle tickets. One lucky audience member took home $770, as did the University’s football team. Proceeds from the raffle will support the team with their travel, equipment, and related expenses.
