What's the Buzz: Rodeos and rock shows for your week ahead

Local group Lost Dogs is set to perform at The Barn in Zanesville on Saturday.

Pick any one of the events happening in and around the area to keep your week busy. I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities, and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for August 18 to 27.

Saturday

Tucked Away Arena Rodeo. Nothing says Southeastern Ohio like hillside rodeo events. Bring your blankets and chairs and pick a spot to watch some rodeo fun. Mutton busting will begin at 6 p.m., with the rodeo to follow at 7 p.m. Admission is $15, with kids ages six to ten $10, and under age five admitted for free. Lost Dogs. The Barn is once again home to the rocking sounds of Lost Dogs. This hometown band is sure to get you pumped with its mix of favorite hits. The show is scheduled to run from 7 to 11 p.m. For more information call 740-455-2276. The Barn, 1947 Linden Avenue, Zanesville.

August 27

Jonathan Bye Days. Stroll through the shaded setting that is Byesville Park and celebrate the founder of Byesville, Jonathan Bye. A full day of activities is scheduled, including live music from E. Wade Acoustic, Michael Mack, and Rattlebox. Kids can compete in a bicycle race, bounce in the bounce house, or grab a snack from the various food vendors. Adults can play bingo with the fire department, play in the Battle of the Boards cornhole tournament or show off their skills in the 'Byesville's Got Talent' show. This is a family-friendly event that is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. For more information call 740-685-0800. Meek Avenue, Byesville.

As highlighted in last week's column:

  • Saturday. Cambridge Classic Cruise-in and Car Show. Looking down Wheeling Avenue and seeing it lined with classic cars from the 1920s, '30s, '40s and beyond has become a summer staple for Cambridge. The event, put on by Cambridge Main Street and the Guernsey County Community Development Center, is a free, family-friendly event. Registration runs from 10 a.m. to noon, with judging at 2 p.m. and awards presented at 4 p.m. Awards will be given out in various categories, including oldest driver and largest club, among others.   • Sunday. Seneca Beach Car Show.Enjoy an afternoon by the lake checking out the car show. Trophies will be awarded in various categories, and musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Spikeman. Entry tickets for the vehicles can be purchased for $10. Contact the park for more information at 740-685-6013. Seneca Lake Park, beach area, 22172 Park Road, Senecaville. This event was originally scheduled for August 14 but was rescheduled due to the weather.
