When Marcell Ozuna signed with the Atlanta Braves in January 2020 the thought was that Ozuna would bring some added power to the outfield which was only dealt out by Ronald Acuña Jr. Come the end of the 2020 season Ozuna batted .338/.431/.636 with 18 home runs and 56 RBIs. With the 2021 season on the horizon it seemed that Ozuna has cemented his place in the Braves outfield and as a powerful piece of the organization with a 4-year $64 million deal. However, this feeling would come to a screeching halt with the outfielders suspension on September 9, 2021 for the remainder of that season for domestic violence accusations.

Ozuna returned to the Braves lineup this season, but has hardly lived up to the $16 million price tag that he brings. In 107 games this season Ozuna has batted .214/.263/.393 with 20 home runs and 46 RBIs. While these are not terrible numbers, the biggest problem for Ozuna this season has been that he is being outperformed by the younger prospects that have been called up this season such as Michael Harris III and Vaughn Grissom. This has left the big question of if Ozuna truly fits on this team. In terms of his contract-to-performance ratio the numbers don't add up to the money due his way, and in all honesty for the rest of the 2022 season a cheaper option would be to put Vaughn Grissom in as the full-time DH and fill Ozuna's position in the lineup. Ozuna is not an awful player, his performance just does not correlate to the money he is owed to make the partnership viable for the Atlanta Braves
