A longtime Las Vegas public servant is celebrating his retirement.
Tim Szymanski, who has served as the public information officer for Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, received a celebratory banquet Wednesday.
Szymanski has spent 51 years in service, 26 of which were in Southern Nevada.
He was the department's public face during that time, talking to news media about fire responses, training, preparations and other incidents that crews would handle.
Before the luncheon, he gave remarks to firefighters and other city officials about his career, how he came to Las Vegas and how dedicated he was to his job.
"In 26 years that I've been here, I can use this many fingers to tell how many days I was off," Szymanski said, showing five fingers on one hand.
Everyone at News 3 thanks Tim for his hard work bringing us as much information as possible over the years.
