Woman faces 7 years for escapes

A Union woman who was charged twice with escape from the Neshoba County Jail, faces seven years in prison after she pleaded guilty to those and three other charges last month in Circuit Court.

The woman, Candace Lynn Barton, 32, 10481 County Road 244, Union, escaped from the jail at 6:55 a.m. on March 22 when she jumped off the roof, the authorities said. She was arrested later at GameStop in Philadelphia when law enforcement responded to a tip.

Barton was sentenced to one year in prison for each escape attempt. She was also was sentenced to three years for possession of a cell phone in the jail. 

Barton also pleaded guilty to two charges of possession of meth and received one year for each. The sentences will be served consecutive meaning one does not begin to run until the expiration of a prior sentence.

The following pleas were accepted and sentences handed down during the July term of Circuit Court held at the Neshoba County court house. All will be served consecutive.

• Jacob Ryan Dove, 30, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to the charges of credit card theft and escape. He was sentenced to three years in prison for each count;

• Mario Espinoza, 45, Union, pleaded  guilty to sale of meth. He was assigned to drug court;

-Deanrick Isom, 28, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to grand larceny. He was sentenced to two years in prison;

• Norma Ainsworth, 50, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to possession of meth. She was assigned to drug court;

• Danario Bell, 42, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to possession of meth. He was assigned to drug court;

• Austin Dempsey 23, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to business burglary. He was assigned to drug court;

• April Shannon, 40, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to possession of meth. She was sentenced to five years in prison;

• Jonathan Ford, 49, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to possession of meth. He was sentenced to 18 months on prison;

• Shareeka Fox, 35, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to embezzlement. She was assigned to the pre-trial diversion program;

• Matthew Cain, 34, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to possession of meth. He was sentenced to one year in prison;

• Jesse Williamson, 43, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to burglary of a shed. He was assigned to drug court;

• Leslie Farmer, 32, Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to possession of meth. He was assigned to drug court; and,

• William Dunn, 45, Union, pleaded guilty to possession of meth. He was sentenced to a year in prison.
