Howell, Hartland kick off new school year

Across Livingston County, students from Hartland Consolidated Schools and Howell Public Schools headed back to school on Wednesday. 

With the 2022-23 school year kicking off, it's no secret that schools across the county are dealing with shortages from school bus drivers to supplies. In preparation for the upcoming school year, local Brighton businesses are helping out teachers by asking them for their Amazon classroom wish lists in order to buy some supplies to help out teachers.

Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran School will have a half day for its first day of school on Tuesday. On Monday, Aug. 29, students from Fowlerville Community Schools, Livingston Christian Schools, St. Mary Catholic School and Pinckney Community Schools are set to head back. 

After Labor Day, students from Brighton Area Schools, Light of the World Academy and new students at Kensington Woods Schools are set to return on Sept. 6. Returning students at Kensington Woods Schools will start school on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
