A 25-year-old Vero Beach man died in a crash Wednesday near 45th Street in Indian River County.
The Florida Highway Patrol told Sebastian Daily that the traffic accident occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and 45th Street.
Troopers say that a van, driven by a 63-year-old Vero Beach man, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 1 approaching 45th Street to conduct a left turn.
The van “failed to yield the right of way for through traffic and subsequently, both vehicles collided,” FHP Lieutenant Indiana Miranda said.
The driver of the van was transported by ground to HCA Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce. The other driver was pronounced deceased on scene.
At this time, it does not appear that either driver wore seatbelts.
The FHP did not release the names of the two drivers.
