Five days ago, an early morning shooting along Highway 20 resulted in the death of 52-year-old Fort Bragg man Daniel Martin Shealor.

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Captain Greg Captain Van Patten confirmed that MCSO detectives are considering the death a homicide “because of a gunshot wound.”

On Friday, August 12, 2022, the shooting reportedly occurred around 6:05 a.m. along Highway 20 near Fort Bragg. Shealor was “self-transported” to the hospital, unclear if that means he drove himself or was driven by another party. He would succumb to his injuries at the hospital.

Captain Van Patten told us due to the ongoing investigation, he is unable to publicly release a significant amount of information at this time.

Looks like he had a ‘long history’ with LEO’s in Ft Bragg.

Shealor arrested (2011)

Sheriff”s investigators and city police officers arrested Daniel Martin Shealor, 41, for attempted murder, after he allegedly fired a handgun into the door of an occupied vehicle on Aug. 4 and fled the area.

“Mendocino County Sheriff”s Detectives learned the suspect has been threatening both victims for the past week,” a Sheriff”s report stated. “Detectives received information the suspect has been becoming more erratic and violent due to his alleged methamphetamine abuse.”

The name Daniel Martin Shealor appears 37 times in the countywide court case index since 1995. Shealor was also on probation in February 2009 when he led police and deputies on a high-speed pursuit on the streets of Fort Bragg. According to Sheriff”s reports, Shealor”s vehicle reached 70 mph on local streets before he fled on foot at the end of Lyta Way.

How dare you He may not have made the best choices and not had the best reputation but he is someone’s son someone’s brother someone’s uncle and someone’s father. My brother’s father. My brother who has to go the rest of his life never getting to have a real relationship with his father. Knowing the only real time he will ever get with his dad is while his is planning his funeral and celebration of life. Everyone has an opinion and that they are entitled to but there are people who are hurting because this person thought it was in their right to take another’s life.

So what! What does any of that have to do with him being shot and killed by a patron?

Wondering if you realized that the incidences you are referring to could possibly have been to do with the fact that his sister is a missing person who was possibly last seen with the “victim (s)” or that he was actively looking for her and what happened to her, since nobody else who is supposed to seems to be doing it? I’m not sure whether or not this could be part of what was going on, so I can not say for sure, but this is worth considering prior to deciding to make a comment as carelessly as yours.

I’m just going to take a wild guess here and mention it in case nobody else has been curious as I am about this incident,
This could have been the outcome of him getting a little too close to being able to answer the question left unanswered.
“What happened to Barbera zahn shealor?! ” If anyone knows, that hasn’t yet been willing to take initiative because they are worried about talking to police, or not been able to gather up their moral compass and follow it in the right direction, do know that you are going to have to be eventually die and when that day comes you will be judged for running away from what you should have had the decency to do all along.
be a good hearted human.
There’s a totally different tip line that has nothing to do with the county sheriff’s department and now would be a really good chance to help with anything that might assist in finding her
Clear that heavy conscience and be free.

I agree with you I was thinking the same thing. He is just trying to find out where his sister is that he was so close to. The cops don’t seem to be looking for her! It’s sad that both him and his sister are now gone. Nobody has a right to judge anybody else that’s Gods job! Unless you know the whole story of what he was going through u should never judge somebody! My sympathy’s to his family and children! I am sorry for your loss!
