It seems like a daily conversation. When did things get so expensive? It's next to impossible to leave the grocery store without spending at least one hundred dollars. That is just for the basic stuff you need. No luxuries.

Of course, the gas prices have been crazy for a while. Oh, and our utility bills have been painful as well. It's hard to do anything fun because day-to-day living keeps bleeding us dry.

So where we can find shining moments we have to take them. It's nice to see Amarillo on a list and it's one we can be proud to be included in. So, how about this. According to Kiplinger, we are included in their list of the "25 Cheapest U.S. Cities to Live In"

Yes, finally some good news. I mean everything is still expensive but hey, it's not as expensive as it is everywhere else. So we have that going for us. We actually finish high up on the list.

How Does Number Five Sound?

We finished number five. Which is a pretty respectable showing. They looked at things like the Cost of living. We are 19.3% below the U.S. average. They compared our Metro Population, which is 264,345. Our median household income is $56,055. Also, our median home values sit at $147,600. We also are showing a respectable unemployment rate of 3.2% whereas the national average is 4.8%.

What is Keeping Us Down?

Would you be surprised to know that taxes hurt us? Of course, our property taxes are pretty high. So would be our sales tax. I guess that is the price we pay for not having a state income tax. Let's please keep it that way.
