BIBB COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - Two people have been charged in a north Macon shooting that left two dead and two others hurt.
In a media release, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says 37-year-old Shaqwonda Lakisha Russell and 38-year-old Kenneth Eugene Williams Jr. have been charged in the July shooting deaths of 26-year-old Roctavia Edwards and 17-year-old Jayden Ellington at Waverly Pointe apartments on Forest Hill Road. Two other teens were shot.
Following the shooting, later that night, investigators were checking the townhouses to make sure there were no other victims left behind. In one of the townhouses, investigators noticed a bullet hole in the front door, so they checked for victims. Once inside, they found marijuana. A search warrant later revealed several handguns, rifles, ammunition, and more marijuana.
While the investigators were inside, Russell approached them saying she lived there. She was taken into custody and later interviewed, facing nearly a dozen charges connected to the drugs and weapons.
It was later determined that Williams also lived in the townhouse and is Russell's boyfriend. He had since left the apartment complex. He was arrested two days later and also faced drug and gun charges.
In the following days, investigators were able to determine that Williams was involved in the shooting at Waverly Pointe that killed two and left two others hurt. He now faces two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Russell also faces a charge of murder.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at (478) 751-7500 or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
