Time for some shelf-care

Put your health first, with help from Yachats Cannabis Company

For the TODAY

It’s a growth area in Oregon, evolving from a cottage industry to a thriving commercial and retail enterprise. Cannabis has been used for medical, recreational and entheogenic purposes for centuries. Cultivation of the cannabis plant produces hemp, oil and tetrahydrocannabinol, the active herb ingredient in marijuana.

The Yachats Cannabis Company is a locally owned, grassroots family business that provides flower and oil products to the community. Owners Aaron and Kati Bishop have been growing cannabis for years and strive for the best products by carefully inspecting each of their plants on a daily basis. They are committed to providing quality, holistic flowers and products through sustainable organic farming practices. Yachats Cannabis is a community-minded company that values the health and well-being of its customers.

“We believe that cannabis has always been about community and we intend to continue that tradition,” Kati said. “We have a great team with heart for our customers, a proven reputation and products with a variety of ingredients in both medicinal and recreational cannabis. We are really looking forward to science-backed studies within the medical community and specifically learning the precise correlations between the endocannabinoid system of the body and the cannabinoids and terpenes found in the plants. This will be the bridge we need from the past so we can start making breakthroughs in health care.”

Oregon’s HB 3369 law, which became effective at the beginning of the year, allows nurses to discuss medical cannabis and educate patients on the potential benefits and risks. Nurses play a vital role in helping patients in need through essential conversations and education about cannabinoid therapy, thus helping to optimize medical outcomes.

Patients also benefit from guidance that individualizes this approach and ensures they use therapeutic products for their specific needs. Nurses can also address the risks of interactions with pharmaceutical medications.

Janna Champagne, BSN, RN, is a cannabis health advocate and has a wealth of knowledge and experience on this subject.

“Medical and nursing schools lack education on cannabinoid science, which contributes to the difficulties in accessing medical cannabis care,” she said. “Consequently, doctors and nurses are often unaware that there are about 35,000 reputable research studies which support cannabis as a safe and effective intervention for many conditions.”

Champagne also said that there is a general lack of understanding about the cannabis plant compounds called “phytocannabinoids” that mimic vital nutrients produced in our bodies called “endocannabinoids.”

“When we are deficient in internal endocannabinoids, it’s a condition called ‘Endocannabinoid Deficiency’ which has been associated with every major chronic illness,” she said. ”Supplementing our bodies with these phytocannabinoids fills in seamlessly for this deficiency of endocannabinoids, as they are similar in structure and identical in function. Cannabis supplements promote a corrective response in the underlying imbalances that contribute to illness. The cannabis plant chemistry helps nurture the endocannabinoid system by providing phytocannabinoids, helping our body stay healthy.”

Store manager Erin Maas said, “It is inspiring to learn as much as we can about cannabis’ synergistic effect with our endocannabinoid system. We are in the infancy stages of learning all the benefits of the effects on our bodies. New products are becoming available with lesser known cannabinoids like CBN and CBG. Feedback from our customers is positive, with improvements in sleep and mood.”

“Our heart and soul goes into every gram of marijuana leaving our farm,” Kati said. “You are sure to get a quality product from us.”
