Man charged for ramming car into Crystal Lake house and paralyzing homeowner

CRYSTAL LAKE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Crystal Lake man faces charges for plowing his car into a home and critically injuring the homeowner.
27-year-old Connor Kirkpartrick has been charged with aggravated reckless driving, reckless conduct and criminal damage to property, Crystal Lake police said.

On the night of July 27, Kirkpatrick, according to law enforcement, was driving east on Ballard in Crystal Lake and inexplicably veered off just past Briarwood and into a house in the 100 block of Heather Drive.

The homeowner, Angelo Pleotis, was inside at the time of the crash and suffered severe injuries, which included a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and spinal fractures that caused him to be paralyzed. Pleotis’s daughter-in-law has organized a GoFundMe page for him and said he remains hospitalized in the ICU. Thus far, a little over $92,000 has been raised for Pleotis, who according family was just days away from retirement.

Meanwhile, Kirkpatrick remains hospitalized too with significant injuries. Crystal Lake police said he will face the charges once he is released from the hospital.
