Mtn. View woman charged with shooting

A Mountain View woman was charged with multiple felonies after allegedly shooting a man on County Road 3530. Amanda L. Elliott faces charges of first degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, third degree assault of a special victim, and resisting/interfering with arrest.
According to a probable cause statement released by the Howell County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Brian Jackson was dispatched on Aug. 6 to a residence located on CR 3530 in Mountain View. Deputy Jackson was responding to a domestic assault call. While en route, he was advised that the caller had been shot at by another individual. The weapon was reportedly retrieved by the caller.
Deputy Jackson made contact with the male caller who stated that he was retrieving his belongings from the residence, as he and his girlfriend were going to separate. The victim stated that when he arrived at the residence, the driveway was blocked, and he had to drive around two vehicles. When at the residence a female subject, identified to Deputy Jackson as Amanda L. Elliott of Mountain View, reportedly shoved him multiple times and told him he was going to die. Elliott reportedly retrieved a .22 rifle and shot at the male subject.
Deputy Jackson had received a call from Elliott stating she wanted her rifle back and was told by Deputy Jackson and Officer Michael Pauly to meet at the end of the road. When officers made contact with Elliott, she was standing on top of some rocks that were approximately four feet high and refused to comply with officers' requests. When officers tried to apprehend Elliott, she became combative, kicking at officers and threatening them. According to the probable cause statement, officers noted a strong odor of alcohol from Elliott and that she was slurring her speech. Elliott refused to give a statement to officers and refused a gun shot residue (GSR) test.
While taking Elliott to the Howell County Jail, she resisted again and tried to escape from the arresting officer.
Amanda L. Elliott was released on bond on August 10. Elliott is to appear in court on Tuesday, September 20 for her preliminary hearing.
