Wednesday was the first day of school for students in Shasta County but they're not the only ones stepping onto campus for the first time.

The Redding Police Department introduced new School Resource Officers. School Resource Officers partner with our community schools to provide school safety and promote collaboration with the police department and our local schools.

• Officer Bryan Cowan is assigned to Shasta College
• Officer Camaron Hooks is assigned to the Redding School District
• Officer Joe Dempsey is assigned to Shasta High and University Prep Redding
• Officer Nicole Rempfer is assigned to Enterprise High School
• Not pictured is Officer Tyler Sullivan is who assigned to Enterprise Elementary School District

Wednesday was the first day of school in their new assignments, after completing a week of orientation including school campus introductions and various trainings from Children's Legacy Center, Youth Options Shasta and Shasta County District Attorney's Office.
