Aug. 23, 1972 Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wiley announced the sale of their Western Auto Store in Cassville to Mr. and Mrs. George Simpkins, of Springfield. Mr. Wiley, former Vo-Ag teacher in Cassville High School, and Mrs. Wiley have been in business in Cassville for the past 26 years, 15 of which have been with Western Auto Store.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Henbest, owners of Culver Funeral Home in Cassville, announce the addition of Joe Holder to their staff upon his graduation from Mortuary School in Louisville, Ky., on Aug. 26.

The graduating class of 1952 held its class reunion this week with 39 members of the 60-member class present. Those coordinating the event were Rowena Hutchens, Delphina Padgett, Spiz Stephens, Marcia Hutchens, and class sponsors, Truman Thompson and Louise Fisher.

Doyle Williamson, owner of Williamson Chapel in the Valley Funeral Home, has purchased acreage near Shell Knob, where he plans to begin construction of a funeral chapel to serve the lake area.

Aug. 18, 1982 The Barry County Senior Citizen Council is moving closer to obtaining a community center for their organization. Bids will be opened on Sept. 9 on remodeling the property at Seventh and East streets, according to Mindy Lewright, president of the group.

After 14 years with the Roaring River State Park, James A. Henbest retired on July 31, according to Superintendent Boyd Holcomb.

The 27th annual CCC reunion will be held at Roaring River State Park Sept. 11-12. They are preparing for at least 200 people to attend.

An elderly Seligman woman was robbed of approximately $50 Monday by two men who gained entry into her home on the pretense of selling her lightning rods for her house.

Aug. 12, 1992 The next major construction project in downtown Cassville will be the addition of approximately 7,000 square feet to the existing building, according to John Duncan, pastor.

Dannie Miller, a Cassville native, will become the Missouri Highway and Transportation District Engineer for the eight-county district in the Kansas City area on Sept. 1. Miller, has been with the department since 1969. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Miller, of Cassville.

First-place winners in the eighth annual Hillbilly Industrial Golf tournament held at the Cassville Golf Course last week were; Dick Moger, American Legacy; J.T. Dickenson, Justin Boot Co.; Rick Harvey, GTE; and Howard Keister, GTE. Second place went to: Gary Henderson, Wells Aluminum; Thom Georges. Alvey, Inc.; and Barry Paulson, GTE.
