Police revive man who overdosed, crashed into 3 vehicles in Tamaqua

Emergency responders had to administer a medicine that reverses an opioid overdose to a Tamaqua man who crashed his vehicle into three others on Aug. 10, Tamaqua police said.

According to police, the crash happened at 8 p.m. as Ralph Jackavage, 27, of 223 Center St., traveled on North Railroad Street (Route 309) and crashed into the parked vehicles.

When police arrived, emergency medical responders were treating Jackavage for injuries and administering Narcan. Police transported him to the hospital, where he committed to a blood draw. Charges are pending.

As police were investigating, they were approached by a man who was traveling behind Jackavage and had a video of the crashes. Police said the footage shows Jackavage’s vehicle traveling south in the northbound lane of Route 309.

At the intersection of Route 309 and Taggertsville Road, a front driver’s side tire rolls from the vehicle but Jackavage continued driving on the wrong side of the road into Tamaqua. The video shows him driving partially into the grass and traveling through a steady red traffic signal before the crash happens.
