Driver in fatal crash taken into custody
A man has been taken into custody following a fatal car crash in Brookfield.Vermont State Police say the driver, Seth Edson, 28, of Barre, was driving south on I-89 around 2 p.m. on Tuesday when he drove off the road, hit a rock outcropping and flipped the car onto its roof. Two other people were in the car at the time of the crash.One person, Jason Batchelder, 38, was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center with serious injuries. The second person, Heather Gibbs, 35, died at the scene. Police say Edson had crack cocaine and may have been under the influence at the time of the crash. He is set to appear in court on Wednesday.The area where the crash happened was closed for about four hours but has since reopened.

Two other people were in the car at the time of the crash.
