August 17, 2022 – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that an 8-mile resurfacing project on U.S. 36 between the Route 36/Illinois Route 121 intersection and just outside of La Place will begin on Monday, August 22.

This $6.4 million project includes resurfacing and pavement patching. Traffic will be maintained using flaggers, allowing one lane to be open at all times. Benefits from the project include providing a smoother road surface.

The project should be completed by November 30, but while construction is occurring, motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the affected area. When feasible, the use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
