Gunmaker Sig Sauer has unveiled plans for a major expansion on a 20-acre parcel at the Pease International Tradeport. The proposed new development will include light manufacturing, warehouse space and office uses, the Portsmouth Herald reported. The project calls for creating a roughly 20.4-acre lot and a 182,500-square-foot facility on the site. The company is scheduled to present its plan for the proposed commercial development at the board’s Thursday morning meeting.

Lakes Region Community Developers and Pemi Valley Habitat for Humanity have launched a new collaboration aimed at helping both organizations bring more affordable, single-family homes to communities in their areas.

Through the agreement, LRCD will work to incorporate single-family home lots into their site plans when planning a new rental housing development. The lots would then be subdivided and sold to PVH at a price that works with its home-building model. The PVH single-family opportunities will then be shared with LRCD tenants who have a goal of homeownership.

“By leveraging the strengths of each of our organizations, LRCD and PVH can create new home ownership opportunities for families of low and moderate income,” said LRCD Executive Director Carmen Lorentz. Plans for the first collaboration will emerge at the proposed Village at Mill Pond in Ashland where LRCD seeks to build up to 60 rental apartments for essential workers, 24 apartments for seniors of low income and will subdivide four single-family lots on the site for PVH to develop.

Manchester-based Brady Sullivan Properties recently sold 35 & 35 E. Industrial Way in Rochester after over a decade of ownership. The two buildings on the site total 210,000 square feet on over 27 acres. Christian Stallkamp of The Boulos Company represented the buyer, Amarosa Industrial Park LLC. Charles Panasis led sale efforts alongside Brady Sullivan’s James Tobin and Jamison Bibaud.

PBC Environmental a demolition and environmental abatement contractor and consultancy based in Kittery, Maine, has successfully taken down the ambulatory wing of the former Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, another step in paving the way for redevelopment of the historic 1940s structure. Ongoing work includes environmental abatement and the broad scale demolition and removal of the building’s 200,000 square foot interior back to the structure framing. Developers Redfern Properties and NewHeight Group, with construction manager Zachau Construction, plan to turn the Mercy Hospital campus into market-rate apartments.

The NH Liquor Commission has opened a new 12,000-square-foot Liquor & Wine Outlet at Exit 17 off Interstate 93 in Concord. The new store is next to Market Basket, HomeGoods, Service Credit Union, Wendy’s and other retailers.

Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service of Eliot, Maine, has acquired Labrie Associates, based in North Hampton. In a letter to his clients, Labrie Associates’ former owner Mick Sheffield said, Piscataqua Landscaping “will continue to run this portion of their business from our current base in North Hampton. My team will all be moving over as Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service employees, with many more opportunities to learn and grow in the industry. It was extremely important that my team be taken care of, and this fit was right for all of us!”

The town of Newport has received $6.1 million in federal funding to update its wastewater treatment facility. Officials said the update will help the town meet federal water quality standards and prevent contaminants from entering the Sugar River downstream from the facility. The town of Newport will be responsible for funding a third of the project through local user fees, Rieseberg said. The wastewater facility serves around 2,000 people. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through the Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal program.

North Branch Construction of Concord recently completed renovations to the NFI North Inc. property at 573 Maple St. in Manchester. The 4,322 square foot multi-room Victorian home and carriage house, which previously served as office space for a law firm, underwent renovations to both the interior and exterior resulting in eight bedrooms, a new kitchen, additional bathrooms, exterior repairs, and site improvements to exterior walkways, lighting and parking lot for clients of NFI North. NFI North specialized education, counseling, supported employment, care management, foster care, residential services, and other services helping to people living with mental illness or behavioral disorders in New Hampshire and Maine.
