Flooding closed North Indian Canyon Drive on the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022.

Motorists who usually take Indian Canyon Drive into Palm Springs from Interstate 10 were greeted with a road closure Wednesday morning.

The portion of Indian Canyon Drive near Palm Springs that runs through the Whitewater Wash south of Interstate 10 was closed Wednesday morning because of flooding.

The road was closed between Sunrise Parkway and Garnet Road around 2:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.

The road closure was being caused by runoff after Tuesday afternoon thunderstorms in nearby mountains.
