QUINCY — For the first time since 1958, Vance Clinic of Chiropractic isn’t owned by someone with the last name of Vance.

However, that’s the only change with the business at 1420 S. 14th.

Miller Property Investments LLC, managed by Dr. Ryan Miller, recently bought the chiropractic office for $300,000 on Aug. 4, according to property tax forms filed in the Adams County Recorder’s office. The practice was sold for an undisclosed amount.

Miller has worked for Vance since 2008. He bought the business from the Tommy Joe Vance and Vicky R. Vance Revocable Trust. Dr. Thomas W. Vance started the practice in 1958. Dr. T.J. Vance joined his father’s practice in 1974 after graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He retired earlier this month.

“He still may come back and work a little bit here and there, but he’s done working full-time for now,” Miller said last week. “Everything is going to stay the same. I’m going to keep the business name the same. I’ve been telling patients nothing is going to change as far as their patient care. It’s going to remain the same business model.”

Miller and Dr. Mark Sprague remain on staff. Sprague started a private practice in 1981 in Quincy, then joined Vance Clinic of Chiropractic in 2006.

“The two of us can handle the bulk of it for now,” Miller said. “I’ll entertain (finding another chiropractor) when Dr. Sprague eventually decides to retire.”
