Take a trip Into the Woods to help Cope Environmental Center programming

Cope Environmental Center celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, its Environmental Education Center becoming the 29th building worldwide to receive Living Building certification from the International Living Futures Institute.

CENTERVILLE, Ind. — Cope Environmental Center will have its Into the Woods gala Aug. 27.

The event on the CEC grounds and inside its Sustainable Education Building begins at 6 p.m. Gala tickets may be purchased at copeenvironmental.org/2022gala.

Proceeds support the center's environmental education programming and sustainability efforts.

Wayne County nonprofit veteran will lead Cope Environmental Center

The evening will include food by Radford’s Meat Market and Deli, dessert around the campfire and premium wine and bourbon tasting in the woods. Woodland casual attire is suggested.

Cope will honor individuals and businesses. Alison Clark Zajdel will receive the Jim and Helen Cope Sustainability Leadership Award, and Jim and Anne Parliament will receive the Francis Parks Award. The Copes and Parks founded Cope Environmental Center.

B&F Plastics will receive the CEC Business Sustainability Award, and Judy Buchholz will be named Cope's Volunteer of the Year.

Cope is a 130-acre outdoor classroom founded in 1992. Its Sustainable Education Building is Indiana's only certified Living Building and was the 29th such building in the world.
