Robert Carrasco, 29, is the owner of Geodomes of South Texas and a 2011 graduate of Pleasanton High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

While attending school, he worked two jobs. He delivered bread and then the other part of the week he worked construction in Austin. He earned enough money that he didn’t have to take out any student loans.

After graduating, he worked in cancer research for about a year, developing pharmaceutical drugs to fight cancer. He was motivated to go into that field after his mother, Tommie Carrasco, passed away from cancer.

He remained in the medical field, analyzing plasma and red blood cells, etc. for cancer patients and patients going through surgery.

Carrasco then received an offer in the oil field, where he worked for three years. He invested a large percent of his earnings into stock, crypto and real estate.

After leaving the oil field, he spent about a year working on the Geodomes of South Texas project. It took a lot of work and was all possible through the help of his fiancee, Hannah Jimenez; dad, Roberto Carrasco; sister, Christina Carrasco; uncle, Jesus Carrasco and Hannah’s dad, Oscar Jimenez. It opened up for business in mid-April.

“The hardest part is just getting started,” said Carrasco. “Learning and educating yourself on what you need to do is the hardest part, because I didn’t have anybody who could teach me.”

He describes Geodomes of South Texas as a couple’s retreat.

“It’s for couples to be able to get away, escape everything and anything that is going on in life.”

Among the feedback and reviews he has received are from couples who shared that the Airbnb retreat saved them from divorce, as it helped them focus on each other again. Many have expressed how they love the relaxing atmosphere of Geodomes of South Texas and how they can’t wait to visit again. Most couples stay two-three nights and drive from larger metropolitan cities such as Dallas, Hous- ton and Austin.

The tranquil property features five Geodomes spaced out to allow for privacy: the Atascosa Premium Suite, Duval Suite, Frio Premium Suite, Hidalgo Suite and Maverick Premium Suite. The three premium suites include upgraded interiors and hot tubs. The suites each have their own unique feel and decor– some are more modern while others are more rustic.

Each Geodome is air-conditioned, with a bed, TV, internet service and WiFi available. All of the suites have curtains to keep the sun out, their own restroom and rain shower inside and even a kitchen area.

Guests can view the large, one-acre pond stocked with large fish you can feed. Depending on the time of year, you may find butterflies or wild animals such as bunnies, quail or deer on the property. Carrasco just kindly requests that you do not pet or try and catch the wildlife.

“We have a pedal boat, hiking trail, hammocks, fire pits, BBQ pits, everything you would like at home, except in the comfort of the country and peace and quiet,” said Carrasco.
