JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A Tuesday night house fire is being investigated as a possible arson.

According to the initial incident report, Officer Sam White said he was northbound on North Main around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, when a 37-year-old woman flagged him down.

The woman told White her house was on fire. He radioed dispatch who said the Jonesboro Fire Department was en route.

According to the report, the home suffered $30,000 worth of damage. The back porch and bedroom were “completely burned,” White stated. The kitchen walls and cabinets were also destroyed.

The victim told the officer that a 36-year-old Black man, whose identity was masked in the report, had set the fire.

The man was described as being 5′6″ and weighing 150 pounds with short black hair and a medium build.

The case is being investigated as a possible arson and first-degree terroristic threatening, the report said.
