One person died and two others were injured Monday in Cleveland County after a high-speed pursuit involving the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Interstate 35.

Authorities said the pursuit started just before 9 p.m. near SE Grand Boulevard and S High Avenue in south Oklahoma City when the driver of a pickup refused to pull over for a highway patrol trooper.

The patrol said the truck was stolen.

The truck entered I-35 southbound at SE Grand Boulevard and briefly exited at SE 4 in Moore before entering the interstate again.

Authorities said the truck reached high rates of speed along I-35 southbound toward Norman.

The trooper used a tactical maneuver about 9:05 p.m. to stop the truck between Rock Creek and Tecumseh roads.

Authorities said the truck rolled, and two of three people in the vehicle were ejected.

The driver was ejected and died at the scene. Another man and a woman were taken to an area hospital.

The patrol did not confirm names Tuesday.

The trooper involved in the pursuit is on administrative duty while the Oklahoma Highway Patrol conducts an investigation.

Law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma City and throughout the United States have recently revised pursuit policies due to safety concerns for officers involved, individuals pursued and the public at large.

Many agencies have stopped pursuing stolen vehicles unless the driver has committed a violent felony.
