SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Officials with the Red River Revel Arts Festival are introducing a new way to pay for things at the event this year.

They say attendees will now receive wristbands they can load money onto. These can be scanned to pay for food and beverages.

The new method will replace the old option of purchasing paper coupons. Revel Executive Director Logan Lewis said he thinks this will make purchasing goods more convenient for customers.

“The technology allows us to be able to make food and payments for beverages much more efficient, much easier for the family, much faster in line so people can enjoy their time. In addition, it helps out vendors to understand the products they are selling. It helps them get a daily count of what sales are.”

REVEL 46 POSTER DESIGN UNVEILED

Also this week, the Revel and Baton Rouge-based visual artist Chase Mullen unveiled the design for the 46th edition of the festival’s poster. The artwork features a railroad crossing signal surrounded by wildlife common to Louisiana.

“I focused on the railroad because it is so intertwined with the festival locations and the sights and sounds of the Revel,” Mullen explained in a statement about the poster. “I wanted to bring these elements to the forefront combined with the wildlife and landscape of Louisiana.

“I feel like this piece is a love letter to Louisiana but also the train tracks surrounding Festival Plaza that I’ve come to know so well.”

The Revel is scheduled to take place Oct. 1-9 at Festival Plaza, 101 Crockett St. in downtown Shreveport. A limited run of posters will be available during the Revel at the Souvenir Tower.

The festival will open at 11 a.m. each day and close at 9 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and on the first Sunday, at 10 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and at 7 p.m. on the second Sunday.
