Four arrested in high-profile drug bust near Mt. Vernon, Illinois

BLUFORD, Ill. – Authorities served a warrant for a high-profile drug bust Tuesday morning near Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

The investigation led to four arrests after authorities recovered methamphetamine, fentanyl and other items.

A high-risk team with the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and an ILEAS tactical team responded to a site in the 300 block of North Poplar in the village of Bluford. Authorities gathered with several large cars and specialized gear.

Authorities have spent several weeks investigating reports of illegal drug activity in Bluford. Photos shared by the Mt. Vernon Police Department connect one farming services building with the investigation.

Investigators obtained quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine from 39-year-old Rose Ann McCormick, the primary suspect accused of illegal drug activity. While searching the property, deputies also found drug equipment, currency, and property believed to be stolen from a southern Illinois burglary.

Prosecutors have issued the following charges in the investigation:

McCromick, Newbury, Bruce and Hartman are all being held at the Jefferson County Justice Center in southern Illinois with pending bonds.
