SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Dozens of sailors and kayakers are expected to compete in this weekend’s 11th Annual Sewell Mountain Sailing Association Mountain Mama Hospice Regatta. This year’s regatta will take place at the Summersville Lake Battle Run Picnic Shelter, located near the Battle Run beach.
Since its inception 11 years ago, this event has welcomed sailors and kayakers from West Virginia and surrounding states. The regatta will feature sailboat and kayak races on Summersville Lake, live music, a silent auction, and games for children.
The annual event at Summersville Lake has raised more than $80,000 since 2011. Funds from the Sailing Regatta aid Hospice of Southern West Virginia in providing “A Special Kind of Caring” to hundreds of patients in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, and Wyoming counties.
The Mountain Mama Hospice Regatta takes place this Saturday and Sunday, August 20th and 21st, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Competitors can contact the Sewell Mountain Sailing Association or register the day of the event.
Proceeds from the regatta support Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
