Sisco seeks to stop seizure of home, other properties

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for federal fraud charges is trying to stop the government from seizing his home and other properties.

Eugene Sisco III, 36, was found guilty of wire fraud and health care fraud back in November. The jury determined he billed Medicaid patients at his drug treatment clinics for services already paid by Medicaid, and that he forced them to undergo medically unnecessary urine tests.

As part of his sentence, he was ordered to forfeit $3.2 million to the government, but nine months later, the government says he has yet to make a single payment. So last month, prosecutors filed a motion seeking to take his home and four other properties, along with lab equipment and a Corvette to apply toward the judgment.

Sisco has responded that it is premature to seize the property at this time, saying the payments are still being negotiated and his case is under appeal. Instead, he suggested that the properties in question be frozen so that they will be available at a later time, if necessary.

A judge will rule on the matter at a later time.
