Violent Suspect Charged with Murder Now Indicted for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

SAN ANGELO – A violent San Angelo man charged with murder has now been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting a man and threatening a woman.

Paul Zipper, who allegedly shot and killed Shawn “Turbo” Clark, has been indicted on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting another man and threatening a woman.

According to court documents, investigators spoke with a San Angelo Police Officer who said on May 25, 2022, he was dispatched to Shannon South, located at 3501 Knickerbocker Road, regarding a gunshot victim.

The officer arrived and spoke with a woman who was in a dating relationship with the gunshot victim. The woman claimed that she was in the garage when she heard a loud noise and the victim fell over with a gunshot wound. The woman said she then drove the victim to Shannon for treatment.

Another officer arrived to assist in the investigation. This officer spoke briefly with the gunshot victim who said Zipper was the person who shot him. At the time, hospital staff were providing lifesaving treatment to him, and this officer was unable to obtain more information about the shooting.

On May 26, 2022, the victim woke up from a medically induced coma and told investigators that Zipper had shot him at his residence. The victim said he and Shawn “Turbo” Clark were in the garage of a residence on Dena Dr. when Zipper approached them and shot him and Clark with a silver handgun.

The woman told investigators that Zipper then pointed the gun at her and threatened to shoot her.

Zipper was taken into custody on May 27, 2022, but on Monday, June 13, 2022, Zipper was charged with the murder of Shawn Clark.
