The fall season is right around the corner and things are about to change, hopefully, it will blow some of the smoke away. Fall starts this year on September 22, 2022. The Autumnal Equinox is a hopeful promise to shake off the heat and dust of summer and give us some relief with cooler mornings and evenings. Here is a look at Montana’s Fall Weather according to the Farmers' Almanac!

The 2023 Almanac is available now. As far as forecast accuracy since it began in 1880? Around 50% say some sources. Update: The National Weather Service has said that we may be in for the third La Nina year in a row in the Northern hemisphere, the first "tripple-dip" La Nina this century.

There were hints in the Farmers' Almanac that around Halloween it might become chilly with the possibility of earlier than expected heavy snows being seen across the Northern Rockies and Plains in late October. Sounds super fun.

It would be nice to make plans around that studded tire change-over date on October 1, but in Montana, you never can count on that happening on a precise schedule. I’ve run those winter studs on the dry pavement until late January before we’ve seen any icy conditions.

Montana is part of the Northcentral group of states as far as the almanac's predictions are concerned. We are lumped in along with Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
