Police rule shooting threat at Germantown High School to be false

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (WMC) - Germantown police officers responded to a shooting threat at Germantown High School Tuesday morning. They say the threat has proven to be false.

The school was placed on a precautionary lockdown as police investigated the situation, according to Memphis-Shelby County Schools. That lockdown has since been lifted.

According to GPD, there was also no evidence of violence on campus related to the threat.

In this era, post-Uvalde, post everything else that has gone on in the world, that we take these matters as district very seriously,” MSCS Chief of Communications Catherne Stout said. “We understand that parents takes these matters very seriously. And this is why we said any parent who wants to come pick up their child, no problem.”

The threat is still under investigation and officers remain on the scene as school officials make decisions for dismissal.
