The Oneida County Sheriff's Office has identified the 61-year-old Lee woman killed in a crash Tuesday morning at the intersection of Brookfield and Skinner Roads in Lee.

Deputies with the sheriff's office were called to the scene around 7 a.m., where they discovered Shirley A. Fox had been traveling east on Brookfield Road when her vehicle left the road and entered its north shoulder, striking a utility pole. Her vehicle continued east on the road before entering a yard and striking a tree, which stopped the vehicle, according to a release from the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies as well as Lee Center firefighters attempted lifesaving measures on Fox, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Power lines were down in the area, and National Grid was on scene to assist, deputies said. The intersection will remain closed for the next few hours until National Grid repairs the utility pole, the release said. An investigation to determine why Fox's vehicle left the road is ongoing.
