Inmate Allegedly Spits on Jail Sergeant, Attempts to Spit on State Trooper

PINE CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Jefferson County inmate is facing charges for reportedly spitting on a sergeant and trying to spit on a state trooper.

Court documents indicate that Punxsutawney-based State Police filed the following criminal charges against 64-year-old Raymond Peter Zilske, of Hawthorne, New Jersey, on Thursday, August 11, in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office.:

– Aggravated Harassment by Prisoner, Felony 3
– Harassment – Course of Conduct with no Legitimate Purpose, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, PSP Punxsutawney received a call from the Jefferson County Jail reporting that an inmate spit on a sergeant’s face on Monday, August 8, around 6:06 p.m.

Police then spoke with the victim, who stated she was delivering meals on the lower side of the jail around 5:08 on August 8 when she asked for another officer’s assistance feeding inmate Raymond Zilske.

According to the complaint, the sergeant entered Zilske’s holding cell and requested he turn around so she could release his restraints to make eating more comfortable. Zilske demanded his food and then turned around and spat in the sergeant’s face, which struck her below the nose and across the mouth, the complaint states.

The sergeant told Zilske that he could now wait until all the other inmates were finished to receive his tray, the complaint indicates.

On August 8, around 7:50 p.m., a PSP trooper was escorted into Zilske’s cell to interview him. Upon entering the cell, Zilske was standing at the back wall of the cell facing the wall.

The trooper introduced himself before Zilske requested that the trooper “put his (expletive) on the floor and get the (expletive) out,” according to the complaint.

The trooper asked Zilske to talk with him about what had occurred, and Zilske again stated to “put his (expletive) on the floor and get the (expletive) out. Big bad state trooper. Turn around and get the (expletive) out, now,” the complaint states.

At this point, Zilske turned around and began to walk toward the trooper, saying, “get out.” Zilske then attempted to spit on the trooper and said, “There, take that with you,” the complaint indicates.

Zilske is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing.
