Russell County remains ‘yellow’ in latest CDC Covid map

Russell County remains yellow on the latest COVID spread map, which was recently released by the Kentucky Department for Public Health. Yellow indicates a medium spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, neighboring Adair County is also in the yellow category while Green and Taylor counties are the only two counties in the Lake Cumberland District that are green, indicating a low level of community spread of the virus.

The Lake Cumberland District counties of Wayne, Casey, Clinton, Pulaski, McCreary, and Cumberland are in the red, which indicates high spread of the virus.

The map is based on the CDC Community Spread model, which calculates the level of Covid-19 infection in a community based on hospital capacity and the number of new admitted patients to the hospital for the last week.
