Marshall County Commissioners Approve Additional Cost for Equipment Repair at Jail

Marshall County 911/Communications Director Matt Pitney and Dan Sammartano from Hyper Wave Technologies presented information to the commissioners Monday morning for repairs to lines at the jail.

Pitney explained that the project is to replace the copper lines between the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Civil Defense Building as well as IT upgrades for better monitoring. 

“We’ve had multiple issues throughout the years,” Pitney stated. “Every time somebody hits a box, water gets in the lines they have malfunctions at the Central Office. Currently, if it goes down the only way we find out is when we go to talk and they don’t hear us.  The link supports the communication between our dispatch consoles where we talk into the mic to the actual transmitters that are out at the Civil Defense building and that is for the VHF transmitters for all of EMS and Culver Fire.”

An updated quote has the total project cost at $21,870.50 which is an increase of $4,650.50 that was quoted last year.  The increase is due to inflated equipment costs.

The commissioners approved the cost for the project to be complete. Pitney said this repair will remedy one of the issues brought forward earlier this month with communication issues between Central Dispatch and emergency services.
