Nicholasville antique store hoping to donate to flood victims

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A Jessamine County antique store closed its doors for good Monday. Owners of Coach Light are trying to get rid of the store’s remaining items in a generous way.

“I don’t want to close today at 6 o’clock, I am afraid it will not get to open back up,” longtime vendor Patti Trail said.

The Nicholasville staple has closed after being condemned by the city fire marshal called it unsafe.

“It is just sad I have bought so much stuff here and sold so much stuff here through the years, it is just another piece of downtown that is not going to be here.” Trail said.

On the last day of business instead of selling most of what they could vendors tried to line up delivery of pieces to eastern Kentucky flood victims.

“We were trying to get together with somebody who had a truck that could load up the bulk of it upstairs the beds the dishes the pots and pans, the silverware, there is a lot up there,” Trail said.

Pattie Trail who has been a vendor here for almost a decade said the final goodbye won’ the easy being here is a dream she had since she was a little girl.

“My parents use to take me to auctions when I was little and they would let me bid so I have always bought and sold,” Trail said.

The place features nearly 10,000 square feet with antiques upstairs and downstairs and vendors hope the hundreds of Kentuckians who lost everything will get something.

“Just donate it out, there is just of it is antique beds they may want new stuff, it would give people a new start back,” Trail said.

The easy part is having the items to donate but now the hard part is trying to find the flood victims to give the items too.
