An anonymous 911 call led deputies to a woman who didn't think much about leaving two children — only one old enough to walk — not just home alone but in an extremely dangerous situation.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy wrote about being dispatched to a home in Lake Worth Beach where “two very young children were left completely unsupervised” on June 13.

The deputy wrote, “Upon arrival, I observed the front door of this residence to be completely ajar. While deputies approached the open front door, we heard a loud sound of rushing water. I made announcements and made the presence of the sheriff's office very well known.

“While making our announcements, a small [boy] wearing red basketball shorts walked out of the bathroom. The red shorts and his skin was [sic] soaking wet and dripping water.

“We entered the residence and entered the bathroom where [the boy] exited from to which I observed a small infant sitting on the floor of the bathroom. [The infant] was also soaking wet with water.

“Upon further observing the bathroom, I witnessed the bathroom bathtub running and slowly filling with water. While on scene, deputies searched the entire apartment to which no other person was located. The children appeared to have been uninjured. While attempting to speak to the children, it was very cleared [sic] both children were unable to communicate or take care of themselves due to the extremely young age,” the arrest report continued.

Then, the deputy wrote about the rest of the home.

According to the arrest report, “When checking the refrigerator for any food, I observed food but multiple bugs and cockroaches freely exploring the interior of the refrigerator. The residence was extremely unkempt and covered in dirt. The children had the overwhelming odor of body odor emanating from their persons.”

The report noted a worker from the state Dept. of Children and Families would be on the way.

Before that happened, and seven minutes after the deputies, Dieulineda Christophe “walked through the door,” according to the arrest report.

“[Christophe] appeared to have been completely fine that deputies were standing in the middle of her apartment attending to [the children]. [Christophe] just waved and laughed and said hello. I asked who she was, to which she informed me she was the [relationship].

“I asked [Christophe] if she wanted to speak to me about the incident to which [sic] was occurring within her residence to which she agreed.”

The report said she left the kids at home with a man. “She further stated she did not inform [the man] that she was leaving the children in his custody, nor that she left the children inside the residence at all. She just left the residence. She stated she left the two children in her bedroom watching a television show. She stated she was only gone for ten minutes because she had gone to her aunt's [home]. She stated that she understands the dangers of leaving [children] unattended. She further stated [believed to be the older child] knows how to open the front door and is aware on how to use the bathtub.”
