Billingsley pleads guilty for role in Jan. 6 incident at capitol

WASHINGTON, D.C. —
A Jefferson County man charged in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol entered a guilty plea Monday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Steven Billingsley, of Richmond, pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
Billingsley waived his right to a trial as well as the right to challenge the sentence. He must pay $500 as his part of more than $2.7 million in damages estimated to have resulted from the incident.

The government said Billingsley admitted to unhooking a barricade and letting himself and others through. The court said he could be subject to four to 10 months in prison and fined up to $20,000.
