A man with a lengthy history of drug and theft arrests in multiple Kentucky counties has been jailed again after being found unresponsive in a vehicle in Glasgow.

The Glasgow Police Department on Saturday responded to FiveStar Food Mart at 800 Happy Valley Road on the report of a man found passed out in a vehicle.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found 25-year-old Taris L. Mitchell, of Morgantown, unresponsive inside a vehicle. Officers, though, were “able to awaken Mitchell,” who “appeared to be under the influence,” according to police.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located methamphetamine, digital scales and a glass pipe.

Mitchell was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), public intoxication (excludes alcohol) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.

Mitchell has had addresses in Hart, Adair, Breckinridge, Barren, and Butler counties over the last five years, as well as Bedford Heights, Ohio, according to jail and police records.

Since July 2017, he has been arrested numerous times in Hart, Adair, Barren, and Breckinridge counties for methamphetamine possession, trafficking in methamphetamine, fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence, along with parole violations and driving offenses.

According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections he is on probation until May 2024. His post incarceration supervision date began in May 2021.
